Vulture waiting

A vulture waiting for an emaciated African child to die so that it can devour its remains.
A photojournalist who could do nothing, but stood aside to record the image for posterity.

I first came across that photo when I was 11 years old.
It has haunted me ever since.
It haunted the photographer, too. He committed suicide a year later.
I vowed from that day to spend the rest of my life trying to make a difference to the world at large.

La prima volta che ho visto questa foto avevo 11 anni.
Da allora mi perseguita.
Ha perseguitato anche il fotografo.
Un anno più tardi si è suicidato.
Da quel giorno ho giurato di passare il resto della vita a cercare di fare la differenza nel mondo intero.
